Mushrooms

When I was a little girl like you, I really didn't like mushrooms.  They looked funny and they had a funny taste.  But the kind my mom gave to me were out of a can.

Now that I am older, I found out that mushrooms are really fun!

A couple days ago I went hiking and found all kinds of mushrooms.  I'm trying to learn about them so I know which ones I can pick and cook to eat or which ones I should stay away from.

The most important thing to remember is :

Make sure you know what kind of mushroom you have before you try cooking it!
Some of them are very poisonous and can make you very sick.

Jim's mom gave me a mushroom book that I am going to start reading to learn about all the different types of mushrooms.

So, I wanted to share some of the photos I took of the different types of mushrooms I found on my hike.  I didn't pick any of them because I was in a park and I'm not sure if you are supposed to do that or not.  I just took pictures instead.

Even if you don't like to eat them now, you may like them when you get older.  Even if you never like to eat them, they are fun to look for in the woods.
